Through the exploration of our senses, students in this 25-week program experimented with a variety of mediums to create a sensory experience of Corona, Queens. Working under the guiding questions; How do we experience our community through our senses, How do artists use Sound, Light, Scent to communicate with an audience, students investigated Corona armed with equipment to document their surroundings.
Using analog tools, students experimented with photography, tape-recordings and their olfactory system, all the while discussing ways to share their findings in a gallery setting. The culmination of this highly experimental program was a spatial installation at the Queens Museum that invited visitors to experience - through the senses - their community. Visitors were allowed to control the slide projectors and audio players, giving them freedom to tailor the museum-going experience.
